We are learning the digraph 'th'.
We are learning the letters Mm, Tt, Ss, Ii.
Term 2 week 1:
We are learning the digraph 'sh'
We are learning the letters Cc, Aa, Dd, Hh. We are learning what the letters look like in words and what they sound like.
Week 11
- This final week we finish our alphabet. We are learning the letter and sound of Xx, Yy and Zz
Week 10
- This week we were learning the number 5's family of facts.
- 2 + 3 = 5, 3 +2 = 5 etc
- Our letters of the week were Vv, Ww, Xx.
Week 9
- This week we are learning the sound, name and what it looks like in words the following letters: Rr, Qq, Vv
- Our number of the week is 10
- The word of the week is 'am'
Also it will be great to see the children having an explore with the new e reader PM app.
Week 8
- This week we are learning the sound and name of the letters: Ff, Bb, Jj
- We are learning the word, 'the', as we are not remembering this word.
- Our number of the week is 9. What does it look like, (numeral, on a tens frame,and tally marks). What number comes after and before 9.
- We are learning our forwards and backwards counting from any number between 0 - 20.
Week 7
- This week we are learning the sound and name of the letters: Kk, Ll, Ff
- The words we are learning are here, is, a.
- Our number of the week is 8
Week 6
- This week our letters are Pp, Uu, Kk
- Our word is 'to'
- Our number of the week is 6.
For maths we are learning: Numbers before and after up to 20.
We looked at the different ways to make 6. 1 + 5, 2 + 4, 6 + 0, 3 + 3. We also are learning a new game called 'secret number'
Week 5
- This week we are learning the letters Gg, Oo, and Pp.
- Our word is 'my'
- Our number of the week is 5. What it looks like in tally marks, on a tens frame, on a dice etc.
For reading we all have different learning goals. Hopefully the children will tell you what it is. They will be some of the following:
- I point to each word as I say the word
- I look at the first letter of a word and get my mouth ready for the sound that letter makes.
- I look at the first letter and the last letter of a word and I use the picture to see if it makes sense what I am saying. 'does it look right, sound right, make sense'.
Week 4.
- This week we were learning the letters Ii, Nn, and Gg.
- Our word was 'the'
- Our number of the week was 3
This week we are learning the letters: c, d and a
It is very important that children in the New Entrant Class learn both the sounds and name of each letter and have the correct formation when writing them.
Please help your child to recognise the sounds and practise writing them.
