Chrysalis

Zac Carey brought in a special chrysalis this morning for us to watch as it changes.
It is important we just watch and keep our hands away.
Some of us were unaware what a chrysalis was.
It is going to be exciting to see what happens!

Letter B Song

Room 2 seem to really like these clips, so I have put another one on for the letter b which we are learning this week. We are learning the sound, the name and what it looks like in words

We went to see Harold today

Ask the children what they learned today when we visited the Life Education mobile classroom this morning.
We are learning about the air we breathe.
We learned some scientific words like, oxygen, trachea, lungs, heart and carbon dioxide.

Here is a picture of a puzzle we helped Harold with. Harold was so funny!
Mrs Akkerman wonders if anyone can tell mum or dad a bit about the respiration cycle ?
We breathe in air called oxygen through our nose and mouth. Then the oxygen goes down our special pipe called a trachea into our lungs. In our lungs the oxygen gets into our blood and our heart pumps our blood all around our body.
The air we breathe out is called carbon dioxide which goes around the corner and finds trees, plants and flowers. The plants breathe in carbon dioxide and then breathe out oxygen
Guess who breathes in oxygen again?

WORM WEDNESDAY
We fed our worms today! Every Wednesday we will feed our worms in room 2.  It will be great if we can have an extra piece of fruit in our lunch boxes! It means we will eat healthier and the left overs we can feed our worms.

What a wonderful way of getting rid of all our scraps!

Taking turns is important in room 2. We all want a go at feeding the worms but know if we wait patiently we will all get a turn!

Fed and satisfied! I wonder what will happen to this food?

Jump Jamming

Today Brett Fairweather, the creator of jump jam in schools, came to St Marys. Most of the school joined in to try new moves that the other schools haven't even seen yet! One of our students has been chosen to be part of Brett's new videos for the new jump jam songs. We all celebrated this students success by part in a jump jam session.

Learning how a worm farm is constructed

We now have a worm farm in Room 2. Van Taylor from 'Learning through Discovery' helped us set up our worm farm and explained what we need to do to feed our worms.

Van showing us a worm egg.

We will be feeding our worms on 'Worm Wednesday'.
